Home Design evaluation

A professional assessment for homeowners preparing to invest in their space.

Why the Home Design Evaluation Exists

Many homeowners begin searching for an interior designer because something about their home isn’t working, but they’re unsure where the problem actually starts. Decisions are often made too early or in isolation—furnishings before layout, finishes before function, or budgets before scope is understood.

The Home Design Evaluation exists to address this moment. It is a structured interior design evaluation that helps homeowners understand what their home needs, what decisions matter most, and what professional execution would realistically involve before committing to renovation, furnishings, or larger updates.

Who This Evaluation Is Designed For

This evaluation is designed for homeowners who are preparing to invest $25,000 or more and want to make informed decisions before moving forward. Many clients come to me while searching for an interior designer in Buffalo or while exploring whether a professional design consultation is the right first step.

If you value expert guidance, want to avoid costly missteps, and prefer a clear plan over trial and error, this process will likely feel supportive. If you’re looking primarily for decorating advice, product recommendations, or casual idea sharing, this evaluation may not be the right fit.

A modern bedroom with purple walls, white curtains, and a chandelier. The bed has a white headboard and pillows, with a beige and pink blanket. There is a black nightstand with a lamp, clock, and books. A checkered armchair with a purple blanket, a small pink upholstered stool, and a large black-and-white art piece of a woman on the wall. A vase with flowers and a decorative sculpture are also present.

What Happens During the Evaluation

The Home Design Evaluation is a 90-minute, designer-led interior design consultation. Rather than asking you to arrive with everything figured out, I assess the home itself—how the space functions, how it flows, and where surface-level updates are unlikely to solve deeper issues.

During the evaluation, we discuss layout logic, functional challenges, visual cohesion, budget priorities, and sequencing. The goal is to understand which decisions are connected, which should happen first, and where professional coordination becomes necessary to achieve a successful outcome.

What You Leave With

Following the evaluation, you’ll have a clearer understanding of what your home requires and why. You’ll receive a concise written summary outlining key findings along with a high-level roadmap that identifies priorities, dependencies, and recommended next steps.

This roadmap is intentionally designed to support professional execution rather than DIY implementation. For many homeowners, it becomes the foundation for moving forward with full-service interior design support once scope, timing, and fit are confirmed.
